Battlefield 6 to Break Records with Its New Map

The small map size, which was the subject of criticism during Battlefield 6’s open beta, has been addressed by the development team with a clear statement. David Sirland, a senior producer at DICE, confirmed that the game features large maps and announced that players will be introduced to them very soon.

The three maps released during the first open beta weekend stood out for their focus on fast-paced combat. These areas, where 64 players compete simultaneously, created a dynamic experience with constant combat and a rapid respawn cycle.

However, this structure was deemed insufficient for players seeking longer-term tactical gameplay across larger areas. As criticism spread rapidly on social media, Sirland stated in a statement on X that the map sizes were deliberately chosen this way.

Sirland stated, “Pace is a factor in map size. We chose these maps to deliver the fastest-paced version of Battlefield and showed everyone we can achieve this. There are large maps, and the pace changes accordingly; you’ll see them soon.” He added that the game also includes maps with larger areas and is being prepared for testing.

The first of these will be the Empire State map, which will be available during the second open beta. Details of this map have not yet been released, but it has been confirmed that it will be larger than the maps released during the first weekend. The second open beta will take place this weekend.

Battlefield 6 will be released on October 10, 2025. It has been reported that the game has received over 605,000 pre-orders on Steam. This figure demonstrates the strong interest in the series, even though its release date is still more than two months away. The development team has made it clear that they are aware of the criticisms regarding the map structure and have offered a wide variety of options to suit different player profiles.
