The last few months have not been on good terms with the United States government and TikTok . The reason for this is that the application is wanted to be banned in the country. There has been an important development regarding this issue, which is widely discussed in the technology world. So much so that US President Joe Biden signed the bill prepared for the popular social media platform. Accordingly , TikTok is officially banned in the USA.
TikTok is banned in the USA!
The USA is concerned that the data of US users of TikTok , owned by China -based ByteDance, has been accessed by the Chinese government. For this reason, the House of Representatives first voted to ban the practice, and since those who voted “yes” were in the majority in this vote, the bill passed the first stage.
Subsequently, the bill went to the Senate, the other chamber of the United States Congress, after the House of Representatives. The Senate, one of the two legislative bodies along with the House of Representatives, also adopted this bill in the past hours.
The bill was presented to President Joe Biden after the final decision was made by the House of Representatives and the Senate. In the past minutes, it was announced that Biden signed it. Of course, this was not met with surprise, because he had already stated in his previous statements that he would sign the bill when it came to his desk.
What will happen now?
According to the bill signed by Biden, if ByteDance does not want TikTok to be banned, it must sell the application to a US-based company. The company was given a period of 9 months for this. We will see together what action the Chinese company will take.
