Big clock speed boost coming to Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 processor

Ana sayfa / News

Qualcomm is preparing to deliver a major speed boost with its next-generation flagship processor Snapdragon 8 Gen 5. According to the latest information, the performance cores (P-core) of this processor will be able to reach up to 5.0 GHz. A significant upgrade from the 4.32 GHz clock speed of the previous generation Snapdragon 8 Gen 4.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 will offer a significant increase not only in P cores but also in efficiency cores (E-core). These cores will also run at 4.0 GHz. In the previous generation Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, this speed was 3.53 GHz, so there is a remarkable improvement here too. However, this speed boost will only apply to Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 processors, which are manufactured at TSMC’s N3P production node.

According to Qualcomm’s plans, the new processor will be manufactured by both TSMC and Samsung. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 for Galaxy variant is rumored to be manufactured at Samsung’s SF2 node. Although clock speeds are not yet known about Samsung’s production process, it is rumored that this variant could compete with or surpass the version produced by TSMC.

Such high clock speeds will give users a significant performance boost, especially in gaming and compute-intensive applications. The higher speeds will boost graphics performance, while also boosting overall device speed.

In short, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 processor will be a major power source for flagship phones and tablets in 2024. What do you think about this? Will Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 be able to outperform its competitors? Let us know in the comments section below.
