Ana sayfa / Movies

The craze for superhero movies continues to decline. Marvel, which stands out especially here, went through an identity change after the movie Avengers: Endgame, which met with the audience in 2019. Robert Downey Jr. with the last Avengers movie. Famous actors such as (Iron Man) and Chris Evans (Captain America) said goodbye to us.

This situation caused Marvel to lose its popularity day by day and its movies to crash at the box office. Latest reports reveal that Marvel has cancelled three upcoming sequels. So, what exactly is happening on the Marvel side?

Daniel Richtman, one of the reliable sources in the industry, said that Marvel had shelved the upcoming sequels of Ant-Man 4, Captain Marvel 3, and Eternals 2. While the cancellation decision was made directly at the request of Disney CEO Bob Iger, it is also stated that there are minor differences of opinion between Marvel and Disney at this point.

Allegedly, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige does not oppose the cancellation of Ant-Man 4 and Captain Marvel 3 but wants Eternals 2 not to be canceled and the development process to continue. Despite all this, Disney CEO Bob Iger decides to shelve the relevant films.

As we all guessed, the main reason behind Disney’s decision to cancel three sequels is box office concerns. Considering Marvel’s performance after 2019, all of its films released except Spider-Man were below expectations. For this reason, Disney describes the films in question as risky and shelves them, taking into account their past box office performance. In short, with the latest decision, the era of ‘making just for the sake of doing it’ seems to be over on the Marvel front.
