Nvidia fixes RTX 50 series black screen issue: New VBIOS and driver update on the way
According to feedback from users, the following errors are currently being experienced with RTX 50 series graphics cards:
- Unpredictable errors: Some problems can occur randomly, regardless of a certain load level.
- Sudden black screen: The monitor signal is lost, but the system continues to work.
- Blue screen and PC crash (BSOD): Critical errors such as WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR occur.
Nvidia announced that it will release a new VBIOS update through partners such as ASUS, MSI, and Colorful to fix the aforementioned problems. Users will be able to install this new VBIOS using manufacturer tools such as ASUS GPU Tweak III. In fact, this update has already been released for some RTX 5080 models.
Nvidia announced that it will release a new GeForce Game Ready driver by the end of the week that will automatically fix these errors for users who cannot get the VBIOS update. The good news is that this driver will fix the problem without the need for a manual VBIOS update.
