In a shock decision, Elon Musk has limited the number of tweets you can see on Twitter each day. Bluesky, the next-generation social media platform created by the founder of Twitter, hit record numbers of users. In addition, the platform announced that it was suspending new registrations.
Bluesky has stopped accepting new registrations
Twitter’s limit on the number of tweets that can be viewed per day has led users to look for a new platform. When the demand for Bluesky was higher than expected, the platform stopped accepting new registrations. Although Bluesky still requires an invitation code to register, the number of new users put an unexpected strain on the platform.
The company’s post says: “We will temporarily stop Bluesky registrations while our team continues to resolve performance issues. We will let you know when invitation code functionality is restored”. He also stated that they will be inviting more users to the beta very soon.
Bluesky has acknowledged that it is facing “record levels of traffic”. To overcome these challenges, the platform aims to improve performance with updates to the mobile app. On the other hand, the iOS app is said to offer a smoother experience, although there are occasional problems.
Mastodon, another Twitter competitor, reported a significant increase in users. Although the company did not release figures, social media tracking platforms noted that more than 25,000 new accounts were opened in a single day.
Twitter’s usage limits are currently as follows:
- Verified accounts are limited to reading 10,000 posts per day.
- Unverified accounts will be able to read 100 posts per day
- New unverified accounts will be able to read 500 posts.
