Bluetooth 6.0 will determine location with centimeter accuracy

Ana sayfa / News

We are entering a new era in Bluetooth technology. Bluetooth 6.0 basic standards have been published. According to the information received, the new version will definitely make a great contribution to our daily lives. One of the most striking innovations is the “Channel Sounding” feature, which allows two-way distance measurement between two Bluetooth LE devices. This will make it possible to determine precise centimeter-level locations between devices . Here are the details…

The Bluetooth Technology Association (SIG) states that this new technology will be used in billions of Bluetooth devices in the future and will allow users to find lost objects much faster and easier.

This development will be particularly revolutionary for the “find” functions on smartphones that help pinpoint where devices are. Currently, Apple can pinpoint precise locations of devices like AirTags using Ultra Wideband (UWB) technology on the iPhone 11 and later models.

The new Bluetooth 6.0 version is expected to make this function much more precise by combining it with UWB. Moreover, even devices without a UWB chip will be able to provide location information with similar accuracy thanks to Bluetooth 6.0.

It is not yet clear when devices supporting Bluetooth 6.0 will be available. However, considering that this new standard is open to device manufacturers, it could be at least a year before the first devices are available. You can find the published basic standards here .
