BMW continues to accelerate its electrification steps. Today, the brand introduced the electric version of the new 5 Series in addition to the regular model. A few days ago, new electric motors were added to the i7 and i4 models. Here are the details about the new BMW i4 xDrive 40, i7 eDrive 50, and 750e xDrive models…
The power of electricity keeps increasing: i4 xDrive 40, i7 eDrive 50, and 750e xDrive
The xDrive version, which BMW fans refer to as the “small M series,” has also been added to the BMW i4 Series. The new version, called i4 xDrive 40, will be positioned just below the i4 M50. While the i4 M50 produces 536 hp, the i4 xDrive 40 model will generate 396 hp. This motor will also have an acceleration torque of 443 Nm.
With all these powerful features, the i4 xDrive 40 will go from 0 to 100 km/h in a total of 4.9 seconds. The car’s battery will also provide fast charging support of up to 205 kW. If you are willing to compromise a bit on the range economy, the model with 18-inch wheels will offer a range of 500 kilometers, while maintaining a sporty appearance, the model with 19-inch wheel option will provide a range of 490 kilometers.
When it comes to the electric version of the 7 Series, two new motor options are introduced. The brand has added two new options, referred to as the “small M series,” to the electric version of its Maybach S Series competitor. The first one is the i7 eDrive 50 model. In fact, the i7 family already had two eDrive versions, which were the i7 eDrive 60 and i7 eDrive 70 models equipped with dual electric motors.
Now, the i7 eDrive 50 model, equipped with a single electric motor, has been added. With this new motor option, the brand has introduced a powerful and more affordable 7 Series to the lineup. The i7 eDrive version will generate 449 hp. The car will be available for sale in the autumn of 2023.
In addition to the i7 eDrive 50 model, the 750e xDrive model has also joined the family. The 750e is not entirely an electric car. The brand will combine the standard TwinPower Turbo 3.0-liter 6-cylinder internal combustion engine, which produces 308 hp, with an electric motor that generates 194 hp. Thus, the 750e xDrive model will become a four-wheel drive 7 Series with 483 hp.
