BMW has taken an exciting step for performance enthusiasts by combining driving pleasure with the digital world. The German automotive giant announced three new in-car applications – M Cockpit, M Drag Meter, and M Channel – as well as comprehensive updates to the My BMW app. These new digital tools are available worldwide as part of the BMW Digital Premium package.
Three New Applications for Performance Enthusiasts
Currently, these features are accessible to owners of the new iX3 equipped with the M Sport or M Sport Pro package. However, BMW has announced that other M models using Operating System X will also benefit from these digital privileges in the future.
To make the driving experience more transparent and enjoyable, BMW offers the following digital solutions:
- M Cockpit (Customizable Data Center): Allows you to instantly monitor all technical details related to your vehicle. It visualizes many values, from chassis settings and powertrain to driving dynamics and geographical data. It offers five different dashboard options on the center screen, which you can configure according to your preferences. M Drag Meter (Digital Timer): Designed especially for drag racing enthusiasts, this app records your acceleration and deceleration values with GPS-supported measurements. It “gamifies” performance by measuring the vehicle’s reaction time from a standstill to a standstill. You can track four different criteria simultaneously on the screen.
- M Channel (M World Video Platform): Offers exclusive video content for those who want to immerse themselves in the M world during charging breaks or other breaks. With crystal-clear image and surround sound support, you can access “how-to” videos, motorsport stories, and information about the BMW Driving Academy.
To strengthen its digital ecosystem, BMW has also integrated the BMW M Community into the My BMW app. This platform gives M owners access to unique products, exclusive events, and select partner offers. It also serves as a social platform where you can connect and exchange ideas with other M owners.
Note: The Community feature is currently active for all BMW M drivers (including M High Performance and M Performance vehicles) in Germany from 2014 and later.
BMW’s move seems like proof that performance is not just about horsepower, but also about software and community experience.
