BMW is inviting 105 thousand vehicles to service due to fire risk!
BMW users have been inviting services for a while due to engines not working and burn damage in the engine compartment. The manufacturer, which conducted the necessary investigations on the subject, determined that there was a problem that could pose a fire risk. And invited 105 thousand vehicles that were causing the problem to service.
The problem, which covers the X5 sDrive40i and X5 xDrive40i produced between August 1, 2018 and May 31, 2020, the X6 sDrive40i and X6 xDrive40i produced between April 9, 2019 and May 28, 2020, and the X7 xDrive40i, 740i, 740xi, 840i and 840xi models produced between September 25, 2018 and May 31, 2020, will end with the recall of a total of 105,588 vehicles.
The main source of the problem seems to be the starter motor. A manufacturing defect can cause oil leaks in some parts of the engine over time. Also, considering that the engine does not start, many users try to start their vehicles with long starter attempts. This can cause the instant starter motor to overload. And this process ends with a fire.
BMW invites all problematic vehicles to its service centers so that no one gets hurt. Let’s see how the problem will be solved.
