BYD sold more than 1 million electric vehicles in 2024
The rapid rise of Chinese car giants in electric vehicles has been effective all over the world and competition has reached its peak. BYD, one of the companies that started to produce not only passenger cars but also sports cars, announced that it has sold more than 1 million electric vehicles so far in 2024.
BYD, which sold 373,82 vehicles in August, including hybrid and full electric, renewed its record of 342,383 in July. While it is stated that hybrid vehicles have a high role in these sales, an increase of 73 percent was achieved compared to August 2023 with 222 thousand 384 hybrid sales in August.
At the same time last year, BYD sold a total of 886 thousand hybrid vehicles throughout the year, reaching 1.3 million units this year. In addition, the company, which experienced an increase not only in hybrids but also in full electric sales, sold 148 thousand 470 electric vehicles last month.
BYD, which sold 1 million 4 thousand electric vehicles for eight months in 2024, increased by 12 per cent compared to last year, and sold 265 thousand of these vehicles in different countries. While it is stated that the increases in these sales will be reflected in the advancing technologies, it was added that the company has already announced the DM 5.0 hybrid system and is working on new systems.
