BYD Yangwang has set a new record on the Nürburgring Nordschleife circuit with its U9 supercar. After months of testing and development on the Nordschleife, nicknamed “hell green” and considered one of the world’s toughest tracks, the U9 set a new record for electric cars.

Four prototype U9s completed the 20.8-kilometer course in 7 minutes and 23 seconds under ideal track conditions. This means it surpassed the previous electric car record. Yangwang tried more than 100 technical configurations and nearly 100 different tire settings to achieve this feat.

Former OpenAI executive is preparing to become a competitor!

Mira Murati, who left OpenAI, is already playing big. Here are the former executive's future plans...

Equipped with BYD’s e4 electric motors, the U9 produces 1680 Nm of torque. The carbon fiber-bodied U9, which will have a price tag close to 200 thousand dollars, can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.36 seconds. It can reach a maximum speed of 375 km/h.

Offering a range of 450 km with its 80 kWh battery, the U9 showed that electric vehicles can offer performance that can compete with sports cars with internal combustion engines.
