A long-rumored Call of Duty Switch 2 title might finally arrive in 2026. While it’s unclear whether it’ll be Black Ops 7 or a mobile adaptation, signs are pointing to Activision preparing a major debut for the Nintendo handheld.
Call of Duty Switch 2 port reportedly in development
Microsoft’s commitment to bring Call of Duty to Nintendo platforms is starting to show movement. According to Windows Central’s Jez Corden, the first Call of Duty title for Switch 2 is “nearly done” and likely launching in 2026. That’s later than expected, especially since Black Ops 7 is already targeting multiple platforms.
Corden noted that the delay was due to Nintendo’s selective rollout of dev kits. Activision apparently didn’t have access early enough to develop in sync with other platforms.
Black Ops 7 could make the jump to Switch 2
While there’s no confirmation yet, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 remains the strongest candidate for a Call of Duty Switch 2 launch. The game is reportedly targeting last-gen consoles like PS4 and Xbox One, making it technically feasible on Switch 2 especially with DLSS helping balance performance.
Other rumors hint that Treyarch’s next title will feature a narrative-driven campaign, online multiplayer, and possibly a connected Warzone-style mode. If those modes scale well, a full Switch 2 version could be on the cards.
Call of Duty Mobile is another possible fit for Switch 2
There’s also a real chance that Call of Duty Mobile could be adapted for Nintendo’s handheld instead. With proven success on Android and iOS, a scaled-up version might offer quicker turnaround, fewer technical hurdles, and stronger appeal for casual users.
Adding fuel to that theory, a recent Sledgehammer Games job post called for a Senior Technical Artist with experience in AAA mobile or Switch development. That’s a strong signal that multiple Call of Duty teams are exploring handheld adaptations not just Treyarch.
