Carlos Ghosn, files billion-dollar lawsuit against Nissan!

Carlos Ghosn was one of the most powerful figures in the automotive industry a few years ago. As the head of the Nissan-Renault-Mitsubishi alliance in 2018, Ghosn was arrested on November 19, 2018, on charges of financial misconduct and misuse of his position.

Denying the allegations and blaming the Japanese legal system, Ghosn was released on bail with judicial supervision after paying a bail fee. While awaiting his trial, Ghosn escaped to Lebanon via Istanbul on a private jet on December 31, 2019. The businessman of Lebanese origin managed to leave the country concealed inside a large box used for transporting the sound systems of a music band that came to perform at his home.

Now, back in his home country of Lebanon, the businessman is trying to clear his name. Carlos Ghosn has decided to file a lawsuit against Nissan and the other two companies in the alliance. Additionally, Ghosn is filing lawsuits against 12 individuals for fabricating material evidence, defamation, and slander. The first hearing of the case, opened in Lebanon, is planned to take place in September.

Carlos Ghosn, whose corruption scandals and escape made headlines for a long time, is currently listed on Interpol’s wanted list with a Red Notice. Ghosn has consistently denied the allegations and claims that he is the victim of a conspiracy.

In a 2021 interview, Ghosn cited the lack of any chance of winning the trial as the reason for his illegal escape from Japan in December 2019. Ghosn stated that he couldn’t defend himself in Japan and argued that leaving Japan was the only solution. No statement has been made yet regarding the lawsuit filed by Carlos Ghosn.
