ChatGPT now works with apps

Ana sayfa / News

At its recent DevDay presentation, OpenAI officially unveiled its new App SDK, which allows developers to run their software within its popular chatbot. This development paves the way for ChatGPT to move beyond being a simple text generator to become a cross-application command center.

In the coming weeks and months, users will be able to interact directly with some of their favorite apps, including Spotify, Canva, Coursera, Figma, and Zillow, through ChatGPT. The first integrations are available starting today, with giants like DoorDash, OpenTable, Target, and Uber expected to join the ecosystem soon.

This new feature allows users to directly invoke an app with a command. For example, when planning a party, simply type:

“Spotify, create a playlist for my party this Friday.”

With this command, ChatGPT will make recommendations based on mood, theme, or topic. When a user first accesses an app, they will be prompted to connect their account to ChatGPT. Generated playlist suggestions will then redirect them directly to Spotify through the interface, allowing them to start listening immediately.

The power of AI integration was demonstrated strikingly in the Canva example. In one demo, a user was able to use Canva to design several posters for a dog-walking business they designed simply by speaking. This demonstrates how much faster the design and creative processes will be.

OpenAI is positioning this new App SDK as an exciting opportunity not only for users but also for developers. The company announced that it is working on submission guidelines that will allow developers to monetize their work. This move is seen as the first step in creating a large app marketplace (app store) around ChatGPT.

Early adopters of the integration, such as Spotify, share this excitement. Spotify officials emphasized the potential of the collaboration, saying, “We are still in the early stages, so while we cannot meet every request, we will continue to build, improve, and develop the experience in the coming weeks and months.” OpenAI will continue to expand its platform by reviewing and publishing third-party application applications later this year. This will allow AI to become a central tool bridging diverse applications.
