Elon Musk’s forgotten zero-mileage Tesla Roadsters for sale in China: So why have they been there for so many years?

Ana sayfa / Cars

You may have heard this story from your surroundings before. Your great-grandfather or an ancestor goes to work abroad and leaves his car in a barn or garage where he lived. Then he never comes back, and his grandchildren eventually take out those cars and replace them with new ones. Typically, these cars are placed there brand new and show very low mileage on the odometer. A similar incident seems to have happened to Elon Musk. Here’s the story of the Tesla Roadsters forgotten in China…

For sale by owner, collectible, zero-mileage Tesla Roadster!

According to InsideEvs, these cars were actually exported to China in 2010. They arrived at the port in containers but were never picked up for some reason. They have been sitting inside their containers at the port for a whole 13 years. A closed and protected place for the past 13 years.

It is unknown who brought the vehicles and they have been abandoned for a long time. One of the cars is the red Tesla Roadster that is currently in space, and the other two are orange. There are no numbers on the odometers of the vehicles. It is highly likely that they were zeroed out and placed in boxes.

The whereabouts of the keys to the cars are also unknown. The former port manager had received them for safekeeping, but he has passed away and the location of the keys is unknown. However, this is not a major problem because the company selling the cars, Gruber Motors, has the necessary permissions. Therefore, new keys can be made.

In addition to the three Roadsters considered new and zero-mileage, there is another container. The interesting part starts here because inside the container, there are all the parts you can think of for a Tesla Roadster, except for the car’s body. So there might be a fourth Roadster.

Gruber Motors, which will sell the cars through an auction, considers these cars as time capsules. So far, two offers have been made for these special cars, with the first offer being $800,000, and the second offer, which came five days later, being $2 million. The auction is not yet over, but if no new offer is made, it seems that the cars will belong to the customer who made the second offer.
