Chinese smartphone manufacturer Meizu is withdrawing from the industry. The company made the official statement today and announced that it has officially stopped producing smartphones. So what will Meizu do next? Here is the new road map of Meizu, which could not achieve what it wanted in the smartphone market.
Meizu will now invest in the field of artificial intelligence!
Meizu, which has been producing in the smartphone market for years, was acquired by Geely in 2022. Meizu, which has been trying to advance in the smartphone field for about two years, could not achieve the success it wanted. The company, which has recently been known for its flagship models such as Meizu 20 and 21, did not get what it expected in terms of sales. And finally, with the statement made today, the Chinese company announced that it has withdrawn from the smartphone market.
Claiming that users’ smartphone renewal times are quite long, Meizu Chairman of the Board of Directors stated that it does not make sense to produce for the market. Stating that the devices are renewed in an average period of 51 months, Chairman of the Board of Directors Shen Ziyu thinks that areas such as software are now more logical.
Meizu, which has completely abandoned smartphone production for this and many other reasons, will now work on artificial intelligence, software and operating systems. The company, which announced that it will launch a new operating system suitable for the age of artificial intelligence in 2024, will restructure its existing teams to work on terminal devices.
So will support for existing devices continue?
Of course, Meizu, which already has many products on the market, cannot disappear from the market suddenly. The company, which will continue to provide support in China for devices in need of repair, has not made a statement for other countries for now. However, it is obvious that such a well-established company will not victimize its users.
What do you think about Meizu’s new decision? You can express your ideas in the comments.
