Chinese graphics card surprised everyone with performance

Ana sayfa / News

China-based graphics card startup Lisuan Technology has captured the market’s attention with its first consumer GPU, the Lisuan G100. The G100, featuring a 6nm manufacturing process, outperformed Nvidia’s RTX 4060 in OpenCL tests, approaching the RTX 5060’s performance.

Paired with the Ryzen 5 7600 processor, the G100 achieved a score of 111,290 in OpenCL tests. This result demonstrates that the card offers competitive performance not only in theory but also in practice. In comparison, the RTX 4060 fell short of this score, while the yet-to-be-released RTX 5060 was just one step ahead of the G100.

The G100’s technical specifications include 12GB of GDDR6 VRAM, 48 compute units (CUs), and a maximum clock speed of 2000MHz. While no clear explanation of the manufacturing process has been released, the card is believed to have been produced using 6nm lithography by SMIC, a leading Chinese semiconductor manufacturer.

This information is also noteworthy as it demonstrates SMIC’s capabilities in advanced manufacturing processes. The ability to produce such a GPU at this level using domestic technology is considered a critical milestone in China’s pursuit of semiconductor independence.

The G100, which has not yet been released to the retail market, has nevertheless made significant progress compared to past benchmarks. Previous versions of the G100, known for struggling to outperform even older-generation GPUs like the GTX 660 Ti, have now reached a performance level that could command a leading position in the modern segment. This progress demonstrates the acceleration of not only hardware optimizations but also software optimizations.
