The first official gameplay trailer for the long-awaited Civilization 7 has finally been shared. Firaxis Games is preparing to breathe new life into the strategy genre with this new game. The trailer features differences from previous games in terms of both visual design and gameplay mechanics.
Civilization 7 trailer shows new eras and game mechanics
Civilization 7 promises players an extraordinary strategy experience by offering three different Ages: Ancient Age, Age of Exploration and Modern Age. Each Age features dynamics that completely transform the player’s chosen civilization.
This new system means that players will not progress through the entire game with a single civilization. Instead, you can choose a different civilization in each Age to shape your game with unique bonuses, units and map graphics.
Firaxis Games has adopted a bolder and more readable art style in Civilization 7. Cities are still spread over multiple tiles, but there are now only two types of territory: Urban and Rural. Urban zones can accommodate more buildings over time, while civilizations like Egypt can customize these zones by building unique structures.
With the new concept of overbuilding, players will be able to build new civilizations on top of structures from ages past. This allows cities to be completely transformed in each Age.
Firaxis seems to have taken a more risky and innovative approach with this new game than previous entries in the series. Civilization 7 will be a game worthy of the series’ reputation, not only for its visual innovations, but also for the consequences of in-game decisions.
