Confusing claim for Nintendo Switch 2!

Ana sayfa / News

As the Nintendo Switch ecosystem begins to slowly complete its life, a curious wait has begun for the announcement of the next-generation console. According to rumors from Nintendo, the company seems to be following a different strategy regarding backward compatibility this time.

Switch 2 may come with backwards compatibility support!

New claims have emerged that Nintendo’s next console, the Switch 2, will offer backwards compatibility support. Nate the Hate, one of the reliable sources within the industry, stated that the Nintendo Switch 2 will have backwards compatibility.

This statement came after the news that Hosiden, one of Nintendo’s suppliers, invested ¥2 billion in production equipment and ¥1 billion in automation for its major entertainment industry customer in March 2025.

Backwards compatibility is a feature that has been seen from time to time on Nintendo’s previous consoles, so it is considered a very possible development for the Switch 2. Nate the Hate previously mentioned on the Reset Era forums that some game developers were testing the backwards compatibility function of the new hardware. However, he emphasized that there was no clear information about the possible graphical improvements that this feature could provide.

In addition, he suggested that he doesn’t expect major performance improvements for backwards compatible games, and that developers could release these games as new versions rather than updates to cut costs. Frankly, that’s the strategy of almost all console manufacturers, so that’s probably where things will go.
