The latest console war between the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch is turning out to be the most one-sided in history: according to recent figures, the PlayStation 5 has dominated the market by selling more units than its biggest competitors combined.
Console Sales Figures: PS5 Unstoppable!
According to reliable industry sales data from VGChartz, the PlayStation 5 continued its dominance in the European console market in June 2024.
In June, the PlayStation 5 sold 360,378 units, making it the best-selling console in Europe. This performance raised its total sales to 19.74 million units. However, it saw a 10.4% decrease compared to the same period last year. Considering the console is about to enter its fourth year in the ecosystem, this decline is quite normal.

- PlayStation 5 – 360,378 (19,735,596)
- Switch – 149,298 (36,274,709)
- Xbox Series X|S – 85,689 (7,779,775)
- PlayStation 4 – 1,038 (45,854,820)
The June 2024 figures show that the PlayStation 5 maintained its strong position in the European market. As the numbers indicate, the PS5 sold more units than its two closest competitors combined.
However, the overall decline in console sales compared to last year suggests that sales for this generation of consoles are gradually starting to slow down.
