Copilot mode has arrived for Microsoft Edge

Ana sayfa / News

Microsoft continues its efforts to integrate its artificial intelligence assistant, Copilot, into its product ecosystem. As part of this effort, the experimental Copilot Mode, introduced to the Edge browser, offers users much more comprehensive control over open tabs. With the new mode, users can directly ask the assistant questions about open tabs in the browser and direct certain actions directly to the AI.

Copilot Mode directly addresses the need to multitask without switching from one tab to another. With this mode enabled, users can make restaurant reservations across open tabs, request hotel or product comparisons, or have their price research summarized with a single question. Copilot can also be used as an integrated chatbot on the new tab page.

Microsoft announced that Copilot has been integrated into the address bar. This allows users to perform tasks such as opening tabs, searching for information on websites, or comparing products directly from the address bar by issuing voice commands. In future phases, the assistant is planned to be able to access browser history and credentials with user permission, enabling direct booking transactions.

The mode is entirely optional. Users who do not wish to use it can disable Copilot Mode in their browser settings. Microsoft states that the feature is currently in an experimental phase and will be developed over time with new features, and that this process will be shaped by user feedback.

Certain functions of the new mode are currently free to use. However, some functions have usage limits. This raises the possibility that Copilot Mode could be integrated into a paid subscription system in the future. The extent to which Microsoft will offer this model and its impact on user habits will become clearer in the coming period.
