The mixed reality (XR) headset, codenamed “Project Moohan” and expected to be released as the Galaxy XR, has been eagerly awaited by Samsung fans for nearly a year. It appears to have cleared the final hurdles before its official launch. Samsung previously stated its intention to release the device before the end of 2025, and recent developments suggest this goal will be realized. Here are the details.
Galaxy XR Receives Bluetooth Certification
Samsung’s mixed reality headset, model number SM-I610, has been listed as a certified product in the official Bluetooth qualification database. This listing confirms that the Galaxy XR has successfully completed the Bluetooth Qualification Process. The device’s designation as a “head-mounted device” leaves no room for confusion about its nature.
The fact that Bluetooth certifications for new products are typically listed a few weeks before their public launch is considered the strongest indication that the Galaxy XR’s release date is not far off.
While Samsung has publicly showcased the device several times this year, it has yet to release pricing and availability information. However, reports suggest that the Galaxy XR may launch initially in South Korea next month with a limited launch, followed by a phased rollout to select markets.
Based on market expectations, Samsung’s next-generation mixed reality headset is expected to cost over $2,000.
