The automotive sector is about to welcome Xiaomi, which has been prominent in mobility products, especially in the realm of phones, with the Xiaomi SU7 and SU7 Max models. As per recent reports, the Chinese brand is closer to mass production than ever before.
300 units of Xiaomi SU7 will be produced this month
According to information shared by sources close to the company, Xiaomi’s automotive unit has made a crucial decision for the ongoing development of the Xiaomi SU7. Accordingly, the company will produce 300 prototypes of its first electric car in December.
It’s important to note that these prototypes will not be intended for end consumers—at least not initially. The prototypes are said to be sent to showrooms in China and some Xiaomi stores for display purposes, with the aim of addressing various issues during this process and preparing for mass production as production targets are increased.
The curb weight of the Xiaomi SU7 is expected to be 1980 kg, with an anticipated top speed of 210 km/h. The dimensions are specified as 4,997mm in length, 1,963mm in width, and 1,455mm in height. Powertrain options include a single rear motor with 220 kW or a dual-motor setup with 275 kW at the front and 220 kW at the rear.
One of Xiaomi’s key focuses for its electric vehicle is on the software side. The SU7 series is expected to be equipped with HyperOS, which combines all of the company’s products. Files indicate that Xiaomi has leveraged its expertise in smart phones to develop a car.
