Valve released the highly anticipated Counter-Strike 2, or CS2 for short, in September 2023. Developed with a new game engine and free-to-play just like CS:GO, the game didn’t quite meet the expectations of players at first, but the updates released later on have made the feedback positive. However, there is still one more problem Valve hasn’t solved for Counter-Strike 2: Cheating players.
Counter-Strike 2 players are complaining about the widespread use of cheats!
Counter-Strike 2, the sequel to CS: Global Offensive, which first met with players in 2012, was developed with the Source 2 game engine. This game engine makes it possible for both graphics and gameplay to be more realistic.
CS 2 is actually seen as an important milestone for the CS series. For this reason, players thought that they would not encounter the cheaters in CS:GO in the new game. However, this was not the case.
According to player feedback, despite Valve’s Anti-Cheat (VAC) system, cheating in CS 2 is still an issue. Months after the game’s release, cheats such as seeing through walls and auto-aiming are still reportedly rampant.
While VAC is seen as the bane of cheaters’ existence, it seems to be struggling to detect new cheating techniques in the face of ever-evolving technology. This shows that Valve isn’t doing so well in the fight against cheaters.
Recently, a CS 2 player broadcasting over the internet started testing how many cheaters he would face since he started broadcasting and installed a counter. Over the course of a few hours, the counter went up to double-digit numbers. This sparked a debate among players.
