Coursera and Udemy are merging!

Ana sayfa / News

Two giants of the online education world, Coursera and Udemy, have signed a massive merger agreement worth approximately $2.5 billion, ushering in a new era in the industry. Under this strategic partnership, Coursera will integrate Udemy into its structure through a fully equity-swap model.

According to the agreement, Udemy shareholders will receive 0.8 Coursera shares for every share they own. This merger, unanimously approved by the companies’ boards of directors, is expected to be officially completed in the second half of 2026, following regulatory approvals and shareholder voting.

This merger decision comes at a time when both platforms are under pressure due to changing market dynamics and investor expectations. Although the companies continue to report revenue growth, fluctuations in share prices have undermined market confidence.

The merger of these two giants under one roof aims to achieve total annual revenue exceeding $1.5 billion and cost savings of approximately $115 million within two years. Coursera will lead the combined entity, while its headquarters will remain in Mountain View, and the board of directors will include representatives from both companies.

The agreement focuses on how artificial intelligence is reshaping business and education needs. The combination of Coursera’s academic collaborations with universities and institutions and Udemy’s extensive library of content from independent instructors will create a powerful ecosystem to meet the demand for AI literacy.
