PSP 2 is Coming to Compete with PC Handheld Consoles
Sony made a huge splash in the handheld console market with the PlayStation Portable (PSP), selling over 100 million units worldwide. Sources close to Sony suggest that the recently released PlayStation Portal served as a “trial balloon” for PSP 2. The device received much more demand and sales than expected, accelerating Sony’s efforts for PSP 2.
The unexpected sales success of the PlayStation Portal and the sales figures achieved by PC handheld devices like the Steam Deck have refocused Sony’s attention on handheld consoles.
