HBO has started shooting preparations for the Harry Potter series. The producer announced that they are looking for actors between the ages of 9-11 to portray Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger. Accordingly, the first season is expected to start filming and enter production by April.
Harry Potter series starts filming
In the advertisements for the Harry Potter series, all races, ethnicities and gender identities will be given a chance. Accordingly, they also want an exemplary play in which young actors can show themselves. The only requirement is to be of British and Irish origin. The main reason for this is that the actors have a natural British accent.
If the actors are selected, filming is planned to start in the UK between 2025 and 2026. Accordingly, the series will be aired on HBO Max in 2026. Of course, it is currently unclear on which platform it will be broadcast in our country.
It should be noted that the trio of the movie adaptation (Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint) will not be in the series. The series will adapt all seven Harry Potter novels into separate seasons. Francesca Gardiner, producer of Succession and His Dark Materials, will serve as executive producer with director Mark Mylod.
Mylod has previously directed HBO projects including Game of Thrones, Succession and Entertainment Weekly. He is also currently in the director’s chair on HBO’s adaptation of The Last of Us.
Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav said they are excited to bring the beloved wizarding franchise to the digital world.
