Important developments continue to emerge regarding Apple’s upcoming iPhone 17 series, which is expected to be introduced in the coming months. As known, the company has been using 6.1-inch displays on its standard models for four generations. However, recent reports suggest that a major change might be on the way for the iPhone 17.
Will the iPhone 17 have a larger display?
Apple seems to be preparing a notable change for the iPhone 17. It is rumored that the phone will feature a larger 6.3-inch display, replacing the 6.1-inch screen that has remained unchanged for years.
Spigen, a globally recognized smartphone accessory brand, recently listed its Spigen EZ FIT Tempered Glass screen protector on Amazon India. Interestingly, the listing mentioned compatibility with the iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17, and iPhone 16 Pro.
The iPhone 16 Pro already features a 6.3-inch display, and the iPhone 17 Pro is expected to follow suit. While this isn’t surprising for the Pro models, the fact that a 6.3-inch screen protector wouldn’t fit a 6.1-inch device strongly suggests that the standard iPhone 17 will also adopt the larger 6.3-inch display.
Although Spigen later modified the listing, this incident further supports claims that Apple is planning changes, especially regarding the display, for the iPhone 17 series. Additionally, it is rumored that the standard model will switch from a 60Hz to a 120Hz refresh rate.
On the hardware side, the iPhone 17 is expected to be powered by Apple’s new A19 chip, built on a 3nm process, and come with 8GB of RAM. While it may not feature Pro-specific additions like the vapor chamber cooling system, it is still likely to deliver strong performance and improved efficiency. The potential upgrade to a 120Hz display is also expected to greatly enhance the user experience.
