CrowdStrike CEO George Kurtz has been subpoenaed to testify before Congress about last Friday’s massive outage that brought many services, from flights to hospital procedures, to a standstill. The outage, caused by the “CrowdStrike” security software, negatively affected many businesses, and now details are emerging.

George Kurtz has been called to testify before the House Homeland Security Committee about CrowdStrike’s faulty update that caused a massive outage on Windows PCs. The outage brought flights, hospital operations and broadcasters to a standstill, the Washington Post reported. In a letter, Homeland Security Chairman Mark Green and Subcommittee on Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Protection Chairman Andrew Garbarino said that “Americans deserve to know in detail how this incident occurred and the actions CrowdStrike took.”

CrowdStrike CEO George Kurtz said on social media that the massive outage was not a security or cyber incident. Instead, it was an issue with a content update to Windows Hosts for Falcon, the company’s security software. Following the outage, Kurtz made several statements to inform the public and allay concerns.

Microsoft brought a definitive solution to the CrowdStrike problem with its new recovery tool

The recovery tool released by Microsoft for the CrowdStrike problem fixes BSOD problems. Let's take a look at the details together.

CrowdStrike spokesperson Kevin Benacci stated that the company is actively communicating with the relevant Congressional Committees. Committee Members stated that information and other interaction schedules may be announced. This process indicates that CrowdStrike’s work on cleaning up the technical failure is not yet complete. Three days after the outage, some airlines, such as Delta, are still dealing with flight cancelations and blue screen errors.
