Dead Space series shelved: Employees await sale

Ana sayfa / News

A development has deeply upset horror game enthusiasts. Electronic Arts (EA) appears to have completely suspended its plans for the legendary Dead Space series. Leaked information from within the company reveals that the project has been “frozen” and that employees see a sale as the only solution for the brand’s future.

Speaking on the Insider Gaming Weekly Podcast, Mike Shaw shared critical information from sources within EA. Accordingly, management has decided to shelve the series. This means there are no plans for a new game or sequel in the near future. This information aligns perfectly with the transfer of most of the Motive Studio team, which worked on Dead Space Remake, to the Battlefield 6 project.

While EA leadership hasn’t made an official statement, employees who previously worked on the series have a different expectation. Employees hope EA will divest the IP completely and sell it to another company that can continue the franchise. Given the company’s current financial restructuring process, such a sale could be a logical move to generate cash flow and reduce costs.

However, industry veteran Tom Henderson approaches this scenario with caution. Henderson points out that intellectual property sales are rare and financially complex, emphasizing that Dead Space’s sales potential to cover its costs is questionable. EA’s current priorities are entirely live-service games and big-time action franchises with guaranteed box office.

So, are you disappointed by this decision to shelve the Dead Space series? Do you think EA should sell the brand? Share your thoughts with us in the comments!
