Following the release of Android 16 in June, Samsung finally began rolling out the stable version of One UI 8 last week. This move made the company the first brand after Google to release a stable version of Android 16. The rollout began with the Galaxy S25 series, and Samsung quickly expanded to other models. Here are the details.
Samsung devices receiving the One UI 8 update
As of now, the One UI 8 stable update has reached more than a dozen Galaxy devices. While most are high-end Galaxy S series phones, the update is also available for some foldable Galaxy and mid-range Galaxy A series models. Here’s the full list of Samsung devices that have started receiving the One UI 8 stable update:
- Galaxy S25
- Galaxy S25+
- Galaxy S25 Ultra
- Galaxy S25 Edge
- Galaxy S24
- Galaxy S24+
- Galaxy S24 Ultra
- Galaxy S24 FE
- Galaxy Z Fold 6
- Galaxy Z Flip 6
- Galaxy Z Fold SE (Special Edition)
- Galaxy A56
- Galaxy A36
While the list is short for now, more devices are expected to join in the coming weeks and months.
It’s important to note that the update isn’t rolling out in all countries simultaneously. The rollout is typically phased, so it can take several days to reach all regions. For example, it took Samsung two days to roll out the update for the Galaxy S25 series outside of South Korea.
If you own a Samsung device listed above but haven’t received an update notification yet, it means the update will arrive soon. To manually check for the update, go to Settings > Software Update > Download and Install.
Because One UI 8 is a significant update, its file size is large and requires storage space. It’s best to connect to a reliable Wi-Fi network to download this large file. Also, make sure your device’s battery level is at least 30 percent before starting the installation so that your device doesn’t shut down, even if the installation process takes longer.
