Microsoft Ends the Fourth Quarter with Significant Profit!
Following its controversial $75.4 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard last year, there was much anticipation regarding how Microsoft would fare financially this year. Despite fluctuating stock prices and a series of Game Pass price hikes, Microsoft closed the fourth quarter of 2024 with a remarkable increase.
According to the company’s financial reports, the revenue of the Personal Computing Division, which includes the gaming segment, increased by 44% compared to the previous year. This growth was largely driven by the Activision Blizzard acquisition, which contributed 48% of the increase. Meanwhile, Xbox Content and Services revenue saw a 61% year-over-year increase, slightly surpassing expectations, with 58% of that growth also attributed to the Blizzard acquisition.
A slide shared with shareholders and the press revealed that the total revenue Microsoft gained from the Blizzard acquisition was $1.69 billion, while the associated costs and operating expenses amounted to $570 million. This indicates that Microsoft’s persistence in pursuing this acquisition has paid off.
