Disney+ Announces Its Decision Regarding Account Sharing!

Ana sayfa / News

The popular digital streaming platform Disney+ has officially implemented strict measures regarding password sharing, a topic that has been in the spotlight for some time. This initiative, covering the United States, Canada, and Europe, aims to increase the platform’s profitability.

Disney+ emphasizes that subscriptions should only be used within households and has begun detecting access from different locations. The company will send notifications to identified users, prompting them to create their own subscriptions or join the platform as “Extra Members.”

The Extra Member profile will be priced at $6.99 per month for the ad-supported subscription and $9.99 for the ad-free subscription. However, each family can only add one Extra Member. This move follows a similar initiative by competitor Netflix in 2023, which resulted in millions of new subscribers. In contrast, Apple TV+ has yet to take any action on this matter.

Music legend Elton John documentary coming to Disney+

The release date of Elton John: Never Too Late was announced by Disney+.

In addition, Disney+ will increase subscription fees starting from October 17, 2024. The ad-free monthly subscription will rise to $15.99, with the annual subscription increasing to $159.99. The ad-supported version will be priced at $9.99 per month.

The company stated that these steps are necessary to cover the costs of high-budget productions like Agatha All Along and The Mandalorian, and to improve profitability. Disney anticipates that Disney+ and Hulu will be significant sources of growth in the fiscal year 2025.
