Due to the global inflation, companies raise the prices of their products. Now, Disney has announced that the company is preparing to raise Disney+ and Hulu prices in the UK, Canada, and Europe (France, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, Norway, Sweden and Denmark). According to official announcements, the brand is raising prices up to 27% in these countries. Here are the details about the Disney prices…
Hulu and Disney+ price increases
Disney announced the price hike now, but it will affect users on October 12. The cost of Disney+ (ad-free) will go up by 27%, rising from $10.99 to $13.99 per month for U.S. users. Hulu’s ad-free plan will see a 20% increase, going from $14.99 to $17.99 per month. The prices for Disney+ and Hulu’s standalone plans with ads will stay at $7.99 per month each, while the bundled price will remain $9.99 per month.
Additionally, the platform is increasing the monthly prices of the two Hulu + Live TV packages up to $7, and the ad-supported plan will cost $76.99 while the ad-free plan costs $89.99. Also, the ESPN+ price will rise from $9.99 to $10.99 per month.
On the other side, Disney is planning to expand Disney+ ad-Supported plans to Canada, the U.K., and eight other European countries on November 1. The monthly pricing will be $7.99 in Canada, £4.99 in the U.K., and €5.99 in the European markets (France, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, Norway, Sweden, and Denmark). Also, Disney announced that it will increase subscription prices of Disney+ without ads in those markets in December 2023.
One of the other important issues is the password sharing. Disney’s CEO Bob Iger explains, “We are actively exploring ways to address account sharing and the best options for paying subscribers to share their accounts with friends and family. Later this year, we will begin to update our subscriber agreements with additional terms and our sharing policies. And we will roll out tactics to drive monetization sometime in 2024.”
