Disney confirmed that the company is raising the price of Disney Plus and Hulu. Disney+ has been one of the most popular streaming services in recent months. With this increase, Disney brings both price increases and an ad-supported tier for its streaming service. Here are the details.
Disney+ price and the new ad-supported plan
Popular streaming services company Disney announced that it is increasing the Disney+ and Hulu prices. It also adds a new ad-supported plan to Disney Plus. Although this streaming service is fairly new, it began to rise rapidly to the top thanks to its contents. While Netflix announced a decrease in subscribers for the first time in a decade, Disney confirmed adding 8 million new subscribers to Disney+.
Disney explained this raises, “Direct-to-Consumer revenues for the quarter increased 19% to $5.1 billion, and operating loss increased $0.8 billion to $1.1 billion. The increase in operating loss was due to a higher loss at Disney+, lower operating income at Hulu, and, to a lesser extent, a higher loss at ESPN+.”
The company starts these price hikes on December 8th. Disney raises the price of Disney+ to $10.99 / month, up from the current price of $7.99 / month. Additionally, the ad-supported tier will cost $7.99 / month, the price of the current Disney+ tier.
Disney’s also raising its other streaming service, Hulu prices. The company will launch new prices on October 10th. The ad-free tier will rise from $12.99 / month to $14.99, while the ad-supported version price jumps to $7.99 / month from $6.99. Disney also raised the ESPN Plus prices from $6.99 to $9.99 / month.
If you want to purchase them all together, you can subscribe to Hulu live TV bundle. The TV bundle with ad-supported Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN Plus plans will cost $69.99 / month. The live TV bundle with ad-free Disney+, besides ad-supported Hulu and ESPN Plus plans, will cost $74.99. You need to pay $82.99 / month if you want to get a live TV plan without ads on Disney+ or Hulu and ad-supported ESPN Plus.
