Do Galaxy Watch owners use Gemini?

Ana sayfa / News

Voice assistants are crucial on smartwatches because their small screens, touch controls, and typing make them difficult. Users’ expectations of what they can do on their watches are often more limited than on phones. Recognizing this need, Google has brought the AI-powered Gemini assistant to both old and new Wear OS watches. However, recent research reveals intriguing data about how frequently Galaxy Watch owners use this new assistant. The results reveal that a significant portion of users have not yet fully adapted to this technology.

A survey conducted by Android Authority, with 1,856 participants, examined participants’ preferences in detail. 686 readers, representing approximately 37% of the votes, stated that they have never used Gemini on their watches. Additionally, approximately 12% (215 votes) said they had tried Gemini once but would not use it again due to the lack of experience. When this data is combined, it appears that 49% of voters do not regularly use the revamped voice assistant. It’s clear that Google has a long way to go to attract more users.

On the other side of the spectrum, there’s a segment that actively integrates Gemini into their lives. 31% of respondents (585 votes) say they use the assistant occasionally, while approximately 20% (371 votes) say they use it constantly. This leaves a 51% majority, narrowly ahead of the “yes” answer, indicating they use the assistant in some way. When looking at usage scenarios, features like setting nightly alarms, creating calendar events, starting workouts, and running multi-step commands stand out. Some Galaxy Watch Ultra users prefer the assistant for quick Q&A tasks.

User feedback also includes the opinion that the phone can already do everything a smartwatch can, so the on-watch assistant doesn’t add any additional value. However, the counterargument to this view is that not everyone can carry their phone with them at all times. An LTE-equipped smartwatch, in particular, can fill this gap and make life easier when a phone isn’t available. With the Gemini integration on the Galaxy Watch, Google demonstrates that technology should adapt to different needs. Technology aims to offer flexibility to make life easier for users.

So, do you actively utilize the voice assistant features on your Galaxy Watch or other smartwatch models, or do you prefer your phone to get things done?
