Kabosu, the adorable Shiba Inu dog that inspired the world-famous cryptocurrency Dogecoin, has passed away. Kabosu’s owner, Atsuko Sato, stated in an Instagram post that the dog passed away peacefully in his sleep.

Kabosu was a rescued dog in adulthood and was 18 years old when he lost his life. Kabosu, the Japanese dog, not only inspired Dogecoin, but also became the source of much internet humor with his iconic 2010 photo.

Kabosu’s photo became an NFT and sold for as much as $4 million. Dogecoin, on the other hand, started as a joke but is now the eighth most valuable cryptocurrency with a market capitalization of $23 billion.

How safe is Tesla autopilot technology?

Tesla claims that its autopilot technology is 11 times safer, but some details are hidden behind this claim.

Dogecoin is a cryptocurrency backed by many famous names, including Elon Musk. However, Musk’s statements during his SNL performance and his subsequent accusations of deceiving investors and creating a pyramid scheme led to huge drops in the value of the cryptocurrency.

Dogecoin has remained relatively stable, while other memcoins (joke-based cryptocurrencies) are known to be highly volatile.

In November last year, a statue was erected in Kabosu’s memory in Sakura, Japan. Sato used Kabosu’s virality to donate more than $1 million to organizations like Save the Children. Kabosu’s death has had a huge impact on both the cryptocurrency world and internet culture.
