The United States will hold its presidential election on November 5, 2024. The Democratic Party has nominated Kamala Harris, while the Republican Party has nominated Donald Trump. As the American public begins the countdown to the election, Trump made a striking statement by threatening Google.
Donald Trump: “Google Only Shows Me Bad News”
Trump, who was elected president in 2017 but transferred power to his rival Joe Biden after the 2021 election, threatened to sue Google if he is re-elected this year. In a statement made through his social media platform, Truth Social, the presidential candidate claimed that Google only displays bad news about him.
Trump even asserted that Google has produced false negative news and alleged that the tech giant highlights only positive stories for Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris, implying that the company is biased. His full statement is as follows:
“It has been determined that Google uses an illegal system that only reveals and displays bad stories about Donald J. Trump, some of which are fabricated for this purpose, while it highlights only good stories about the Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris.”
“This is illegal activity, and I hope the Justice Department criminally prosecutes them for this obvious election interference. If they do not, and subject to the laws of our country, when I win the elections and become the President of the United States, I will demand the maximum prosecution of them.”
Trump had also made threats during the 2019 presidential election, making similar claims against Google, which the company denied. Many believe that Trump’s team is using this as a tactic.
