Double Energy! World’s Largest Dual-Rotor Wind Turbine Unveiled

Ana sayfa / News

Chinese company Mingyang Smart Energy has introduced OceanX, which it claims to be the world’s largest single-capacity dual-rotor V-shaped floating wind turbine platform. This massive platform includes two MySE8.3-180 hybrid drive wind turbines, each with a capacity of 8.3 MW. OceanX was officially unveiled on July 13 in Guangzhou.

The OceanX platform stands out with its innovative dual-rotor V-shaped tower. This structure, with long and elliptical sections, provides extra lateral strength, increases production efficiency, and reduces ultimate load, especially under extreme typhoon conditions. The tower includes both an elevator and stairs, facilitating easier access.

According to Mingyang, OceanX can withstand winds of up to 79.8 m/s and waves reaching up to 30 meters. The modular high-performance concrete floating foundation reduces system costs, while the combination of single-point and composite mooring reduces system load and marine impact. Pre-stressed guy ropes share the tower’s weight load, providing a lightweight structure.

A first from Germany! Will produce crude oil with solar energy

A Germany-based company has established a green facility that produces diesel fuel using solar energy. It employs hundreds of moving mirrors.

The world’s largest dual-rotor wind turbine, OceanX, features a dual-turbine V-shaped structure with a total capacity of 16.6 MW. This technology can generate 54 million kWh of electricity annually, supplying power to 30,000 households. Last year, Mingyang reached significant milestones by introducing the new offshore wind turbine model MySE 18.X-20 MW, with development planned between 2024 and 2025.

Moreover, Mingyang has signed a preferred supplier agreement with German clean energy asset manager Luxcara for the supply of wind turbines for Germany’s Waterkant offshore wind project in the North Sea. Mingyang’s innovative approach is seen as a significant step forward in the wind energy industry. You can view the post shared on the company’s LinkedIn account here.
