Netflix users can download TV series and movies on the app and watch them whenever they want. However, with the latest update, they may have to give up the habit of years. It was announced that the video download feature will be removed in Netflix’s Windows 10 and 11 application.
Netflix will not allow downloading TV series and movies on the Windows app
Netflix users who watch TV shows/movies on Windows are facing a big change in the app. The digital streaming giant said it will prevent offline use as part of an update to its Windows app. This means that it will not be possible to download TV series/movies.
Netflix addressed the changes within the scope of the notification it showed in the Windows application. It stated that the updated version will offer some increases in broadcast quality. However, the most striking point of the notification is that there is no longer support for offline viewing. In this context, it will not allow downloading movie and series episodes.
This decision will especially affect those who want to watch TV series or movies without an internet connection. Considering that many users watch Netflix on the subway or on airplanes, it seems to be quite a backlash.
The removal of the download feature was also confirmed on Netflix’s support page. However, this decision affects the application on Windows 10 and 11 for now. At least at this stage, you can download TV series/movies on macOS or the mobile app.
Although downloading content from the Netflix app is banned, we can say that third-party apps will come into play. It seems like it may be possible to download TV series/movies on Windows using these applications.
