Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined adds fresh life to a classic RPG

Ana sayfa / News

Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined is coming back in style. Square Enix has shared new info about the remake, revealing upgraded visuals, a tighter combat system, and plenty of character-driven storytelling. This updated version lands globally on February 5, 2026, reviving one of the series’ most ambitious entries with a fresh look and feel.

The game now features a handcrafted diorama look that makes towns, dungeons, and characters feel like tiny figurines brought to life. Akira Toriyama originally drew the character designs, and the developers have now rebuilt them in 3D using a cozy but detailed art style.

In addition, dramatic cutscenes use the same stylized visuals to better showcase big story moments without losing the charm of the original game.

Leaks suggest Capcom may showcase Leon Kennedy in Resident Evil Requiem at State of Play or Tokyo Game Show this September.

Story and features bring old-school adventure with new systems

Originally set on the quiet shores of Estard Island, the game follows a group of childhood friends who stumble upon ancient tablets that mysteriously send them through time. With each discovery, a new region becomes accessible, complete with its own people, history, and hidden secrets.

As the story moves forward, players travel between two timelines, revealing the truth about their world and the forces threatening it. Meanwhile, a new tab-based menu makes managing gear, vocations, and party details much easier.

For a break from the main quest, players can try the battle arena or play the returning Lucky Panel minigame for rare loot.

This reimagining includes full voice acting for the main cast:

Each character adds something unique, both in battle and in the story.

Combat in Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined keeps the turn-based style but moves much faster. Weaker enemies can be defeated instantly on the map. Auto-battle and adjustable speed settings help keep the pace smooth.

A big focus is the vocation system. Each character can choose jobs that grant new spells, stats, and abilities. Later, you can even combine two vocations through a system called Moonlighting. This opens up more strategies and combinations in battle.

These perks offer boosts or special attacks and can shift the outcome of tough battles.

Three optional DLC packs will launch alongside the main game:

Players can buy each DLC individually, and they should double-check to avoid making duplicate purchases.

In truth, Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined isn’t just polishing up the past. Instead, it’s reworking key systems, adding voice acting, and crafting a more welcoming experience for modern players, all while honoring the heart of the original. Ultimately, this remake doesn’t just revisit old memories; it rebuilds them.
