Dyson Spot+Scrub AI robot debuts with stain detection

Ana sayfa / AI

Dyson has revealed its first robot vacuum mop, the Spot+Scrub Ai, during IFA 2025 in Berlin. It marks the company’s debut in combined vacuum-and-mop robots, following its 360 VisNav vacuum from 2023. The new model adds a round design, a stain-detection system, and Dyson’s first multifunctional dock.

The robot’s headline addition is AI-powered stain targeting. Equipped with cameras, lasers, and sensors, the Spot+Scrub can identify different types of stains and repeatedly clean them until gone. Dyson says this addresses one of the biggest weaknesses of robot mops: their inability to match manual scrubbing.

Alongside this, the Spot+Scrub includes:

The dock uses a bagless 2L dustbin, meaning no need to buy disposable bags.

The Spot+Scrub is notably larger than Dyson’s previous robot. Its bulk comes from the onboard roller mop, part of a wider industry trend away from spinning pads. The dock, while functional, is also oversized. Both pieces feature Dyson’s signature touches of red and purple, but don’t look radically different from rival bots.

Dyson’s updated MyDyson app shows live cleaning maps, modes (vacuum, mop, or both), and stain reports. The company confirmed plans to support Matter, opening compatibility with Apple Home, Google Home, and Amazon Alexa.

Early impressions of the Spot+Scrub AI

First hands-on reactions suggest the Spot+Scrub is solid but not groundbreaking. Dyson founder James Dyson claims the robot solves flaws in competing mops, saying other models “leave a lot of stain behind.” Still, whether the Spot+Scrub can deliver consistently better cleaning remains to be seen.

Dyson will launch the Spot+Scrub in China later this year, with a US release planned for 2026. For now, it’s a promising but cautious step in Dyson’s long pursuit of the perfect robot vacuum.
