E3, one of the iconic fairs of the gaming world, has taken a big hit in recent years. Both the withdrawal of studios from the event and conditions such as the pandemic have reduced interest in E3. In the new statement, it was announced that the E3 event was officially canceled.
E3 fair will no longer be organized
The Entertainment Software Association (ESA) has confirmed that E3, one of the gaming industry’s longest-running events, will not continue. The announcement put an end to rumors that the E3 brand and rights could be sold.
“We have not had any discussions about divesting or selling E3. ESA will continue to be the sole owner of the E3 event and brand, but the event has been canceled indefinitely,” said an ESA spokesperson.
E3, which has been held in Los Angeles every year for more than two decades, has been the subject of much debate since the pandemic. With studios like Xbox and Sony pulling out of the event, it has lost its former excitement. It was stated that the digital E3 in 2021 will be the last fair.
ESA Vice President Aubrey Quinn stated that there are no plans for the future of the E3 brand. This decision of the organization seems to bring more prominence to the Summer Game Fest and The Game Awards ceremony organized by Geoff Keighley.
Events like Gamescom and Tokyo Game Show also continue to take center stage around the world. However, it should be noted that E3, which has been going on for more than twenty years, has said goodbye to the gaming world.
