Elon Musk has created a charging rival: Hubber!

Ana sayfa / News

Tesla is experiencing a new development every day. Last year, Elon Musk laid off the entire Supercharger team. This created a new gap in the market. The former Supercharger team, eager to capitalize on this and their extensive experience, decided to establish their own company. Here are the details about Hubber, founded by the former Supercharger team.

The new initiative, which aims to address the shortage of high-speed charging in urban areas, will focus primarily on taxis and other commercial vehicles. Tesla CEO Elon Musk’s sudden dismissal of his entire charging team last year caused shock in the tech and electric vehicle world. As a result, other companies wanted to bring this team into their own organization, but it appears the team has decided to forge its own path.

Among the names are Harry Fox, Connor Selwood, and Hugh Leckie, who met at Tesla and oversaw the installation of 100 Supercharger locations across the UK and Ireland. The company has been named Hubber. Hubber describes itself as a next-generation EV charging company focused on solving the urban charging gap.

According to Hubber, taxis charge five times more frequently than private cars, increasing the need for fast charging. The fact that urban homes don’t have garages and charging stations aren’t yet widespread on the streets can be seen as an advantage for Hubber.

The first facility will open this week, and the charging centers will also offer amenities such as restrooms and vending machines. Hubber is opening its first facility in Forest Hill, South London, on August 20th, with a £60 million investment. The facility will include a total of 12 EV charging units: three 150 kW and three 300 kW, each with a dual header.
