After being acquired by Elon Musk, Twitter underwent both structural and managerial changes, and it recently bid farewell to its iconic blue bird logo. Furthermore, the social media platform, now operating under a different name, continues its journey as the X brand. Most notably, Musk announced that a voice and video calling feature would be introduced to the platform, sharing details about it.

Voice and video calling feature coming to Twitter (X)

Many of the recent changes to Twitter have garnered significant backlash. However, the voice and video calling feature announced by Musk just moments ago seems to be receiving positive feedback.

Based on Elon Musk‘s announcement, we can infer that the feature will work across X’s iOS, Android, Mac, and PC versions. Additionally, it won’t require a phone number. Crucial details, such as the release date of this feature, have not been shared as of now.

It’s been known that this feature has been under consideration within the Twitter (X) framework for some time. Last month, Andrea Conway, a designer at X, provided initial information and visuals about the feature in her post. While Musk hasn’t provided any additional details beyond the post above, the image shared by Conway gives us some insight into what the feature might offer.

In the screenshot, a telephone icon is present in the top-right corner of the DM (Direct Message) section. By clicking on it, a window opens, allowing users to engage in voice and video calls. The remaining steps seem to follow a standard pattern similar to other applications.
