This marks a significant milestone for the Parisian startup, demonstrating the trust of ISIR, a research institution under the supervision of Sorbonne University, CNRS, and Inserm.

Enchanted Tools, founded in 2021, unveiled its first prototype after just 12 months of R&D. This first delivery proves the company’s ability to innovate rapidly and deliver robots ready for real-world applications.

“We are proud to announce the delivery of our first robot to ISIR, a landmark event for Enchanted Tools,” declared Jérôme Monceaux, CEO of Enchanted Tools. “This moment symbolizes not only the maturity of our prototype but also the strength of our partnership with ISIR, a pillar of innovation in robotics. Seeing the Mirokaï in action at this prestigious institute is tangible proof of our commitment to pushing the boundaries of robotics and shaping the future.”

Designed to address the challenges of modern robotics

The Mirokaï robots are designed to address the challenges of modern robotics by combining practicality and wonder. They leverage multiple artificial intelligences to interact with users, navigate autonomously, and perform logistics tasks alongside untrained users.

Inspired by an original imaginary world, the Mirokaï feature a unique design and innovative technical characteristics: an interactive face that reacts to user prompts in real-time, two arms and hands capable of manipulating objects, and an innovative locomotion system based on a rolling globe.

The Institute of Intelligent Systems and Robotics (ISIR) is a joint research unit (UMR 7222) under the supervision of Sorbonne University, CNRS, and Inserm (ERL-U1150).

ISIR contributes to anticipating the transformations of society brought about by robots and AI systems by focusing on machine autonomy and human-machine interaction.

ISIR researchers develop various devices, including drones, micro-grippers, bionic prostheses, social robots, surgical arms, and other intelligent and interactive systems in physical, virtual, and mixed reality environments. These innovations address critical challenges in healthcare, future industries, transportation, and personal services.

Guillaume Morel, project leader for Miroka at ISIR, stated, “Thanks to the support of the Île-de-France Region, CNRS Computer Science, and Inserm, we now have a unique platform that many foreign labs envy. Our partnership with Enchanted Tools is just beginning. We are located a few hundred meters from each other and will collaborate on numerous projects in the coming years. This is a win-win partnership that gives ISIR a major boost in its mobile interactive manipulation activities, and allows Enchanted Tools to rapidly transfer research advancements into even more powerful future products through our joint projects and agreements.”

Enchanted Tools plans to continue delivering its robots to other clients by the end of 2024. These robots will play a key role in both research and the application of innovative technological solutions across various sectors, including events, hospitality, retail, and healthcare, where the startup is already heavily invested.

Enchanted Tools was founded in 2021 by Jérôme Monceaux (serial entrepreneur, co-founder of Aldebaran and co-creator of Nao and Pepper robots) and Samuel Benveniste (Doctor of Science and former director of the National Center for Expertise in Cognitive Stimulation).

Enchanted Tools secured the largest seed funding round in French robotics history, earned the Deeptech label from the BPI, and is among the 125 startups in the French Tech 2030 program. With the goal of producing 100,000 robots in 10 years, the company aims for a global impact.
