Google Domains, the domain registration service of Google, was launched in 2014 as an open service to assist users in purchasing domain names. It included significant developments such as domain registration, DNS hosting, domain forwarding, and email forwarding services.
Google Domains to be transferred to Squarespace
Squarespace and Google have signed an important agreement today. According to the agreement, Squarespace will acquire the assets of Google Domains, and the service will be completely shut down. Anthony Casalena, the Founder and CEO of Squarespace, stated the following regarding the matter:
“We are extremely proud to be selected to serve the customers of Google services. Domains are a critical part of the web infrastructure and an essential component of every business’s online presence. We look forward to serving these new customers, as we have served millions of people using our domain products and are dedicated to ensuring a seamless transition.”
Meanwhile, the terms of the contract have also been revealed. According to this, Squarespace will honor the renewal prices for all existing Google Domains customers for the next 12 months. Additionally, Google will provide additional incentives to encourage its customers to build a website with Squarespace and use their services.
