Using the AirPods Pro 3 Background Sound feature while working throughout the day has become one of the most important routines for increasing my productivity. While Apple’s headphone technology is constantly evolving, some tools hidden deep within the iOS operating system can maximize hardware performance. Here’s that hidden feature that’s become indispensable to my daily work routine.
AirPods Pro 3 Background Sound and Work Routine
I’ve been actively using AirPods Pro 3 for about three months now, and with the latest updates, my experience has improved significantly. Especially with the resolution of the initial fit issues, I’ve been able to fully focus on the technological advantages the product offers. However, the real game-changer for me was a software-based feature beyond the hardware.
Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) works better than ever. There are many external factors that distract me from focusing while working, whether it’s a child running around the house or the hum of a crowded cafe. In the past, I used to use third-party white noise apps to suppress these noises. But for the past year, I’ve discovered a built-in, little-known feature of iOS.
This feature is Apple’s “Background Sounds” tool, hidden under Accessibility settings. This feature, which has existed for years, has recently been improved and works seamlessly with the AirPods Pro 3. Especially for those who struggle with focus, this combination allows you to completely disconnect from the outside world.
While the “Fire” sound that came with iOS 18 is my favorite, the options aren’t limited to that. Easily turned on and off via Control Center, this feature, combined with ANC (Automated Numerical Control), completely isolates external sounds. This allows me to create my own silent bubble, no matter where I’m working.
Furthermore, with the iOS 26 update, new sound options like “Rain on the Roof” have been added to the system. And now you can adjust the frequency balance (EQ) of the sounds to your liking. These small but effective tools transform technology from a mere consumer device into a tool that enhances our productivity.
