The game store didn’t have a mobile app because Apple was demanding a 30 percent commission from the Epic Games Store. The company had been waiting for years for the litigation with Apple to end, as it wanted to serve both sides at the same time, rather than only offering the app for Android. Fortunately, the fight is over.
According to the Epic Games Store’s official X (Twitter) account, the game store’s mobile app will be released for both iOS and Android. There is no clear date for this, but the end of the year was pointed out.
The company will receive a 12 percent commission from developers who want to publish games on its mobile store, just as it does on its desktop store. In other words, 88 percent of the money earned will remain with the publisher. For comparison, Steam gets a 30 percent commission on every game sale. Accordingly, we can say that the Epic Games Store pays developers at a higher rate.
